Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to your use of the DataMatrix Junior app (the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to them. They add to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), under which the App is licensed to you; where the two differ, the Standard EULA prevails.

1. What the App does

The App creates GS1 barcodes — GS1 DataMatrix, GS1 Digital Link QR, GS1-128, EAN-13 and UPC-A — from data you enter, checks that data against GS1 rules, exports the codes as image and print files, and reads codes with the camera or from pasted text. It also reads and builds Chestny ZNAK (Честный знак) marking codes from their parts.

2. What the App does not do

• It does not issue GTINs or company prefixes. These are licensed by GS1 member organizations, such as GS1 US.
• It is not a certified barcode verifier under ISO/IEC 15415 or ISO/IEC 15416, and its checks do not replace verification of printed codes.
• For Chestny ZNAK marking codes, it checks the structure only. It does not confirm that a code was issued, is authentic, or is valid for a product; only the operator of the national system can. The App does not connect to Chestny ZNAK or any other marking or traceability system.
• It does not guarantee that a retailer, marketplace, or scanner will accept a code made with it.

3. Your responsibilities

• Use only GTINs and company prefixes that you are licensed to use.
• Print only Chestny ZNAK marking codes that were issued to you through the national system. The App reproduces the data you enter; it cannot make a code valid, and it must not be used to imitate codes you were not issued.
• Test printed codes, and verify them with a professional verifier where required, before a production run. Check your retailers’ and printers’ requirements for size, placement, and print quality.
• Use the App in line with the laws and the labeling rules that apply to you.

4. Purchases

The current version of the App is free and has no in-app purchases. If we add them, payment, refunds, and restoring purchases on your devices will be handled by Apple under its App Store terms.

5. Your codes and our app

The codes and files you create with the App are yours. The App itself, its design, and its content belong to its developer and are licensed to you under the Standard EULA.

6. Trademarks

GS1, GS1 DataMatrix, GS1 Digital Link, and GS1-128 are trademarks of GS1 AISBL. QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED. Chestny ZNAK (Честный знак) is a trademark of its owner. The App is not affiliated with or endorsed by GS1, DENSO WAVE, or the operator of Chestny ZNAK.

7. No warranty

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that it is error-free or fit for a particular purpose, or that codes made with it meet the requirements of any retailer, marketplace, or authority. This does not limit rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of the App or of codes made with it, including the cost of reprinting packaging or labels, product recalls, retailer charges, or fines. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the App and any in-app purchases.

9. Changes to these Terms

The current version of these Terms is always published on this page. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
